“Let’s build a better place with warmth and grace and make progress for Singapore and its people; The Palm will stay strong.”

Those are the words sung by Progress Singapore Party (PSP)’s Assistant Secretary General Francis Yuen in the party’s latest music video titled, “The Palm”, named after the party’s symbol of a palm tree.

Written and composed by Mr Yuen, the party released the video on its social media on Monday in hopes to “inspire all to stay strong and confident despite the challenges of this pandemic.”

Echoing lyrics of the song, the party emphasised, “No flashes of lighting and sounds of thunder can scare or deter us from doing what’s right for a better, brighter, more equitable and compassionate Singapore.”

In a Facebook post, the party shared that the song and music video was launched at a workshop held on Sunday to map out the party’s way forward.

“It was very heartening to feel the energy, passion and teamwork of our diverse participants bringing out issues and sharing ideas on how PSP can make a difference and be an agent for change for the betterment of Singapore,” the party noted in the post.

Ideas from the workshop, which was a combination of on-site discussions and video conferencing between sites, will be collated and distilled into concrete plans for execution, it revealed.

The Palm music video features shots of Mr Yuen playing the guitar and singing the song, accompanied by several other PSP members. There are also shots of Singaporeans living day to day life and of the party walking the grounds.

The lyrics stress the party’s vision to “progress with compassion” and encourages Singaporeans that there is hope despite challenges, and calls for active participating in making choices for the betterment of the nation and its people.
