As of Wednesday noon (3 Feb), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 18 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
This brings the total number of infection cases to 59,602.
Amongst the new cases today, 17 are asymptomatic and were detected from screening and surveillance, while 1 was symptomatic.
There is one new case of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection.
“Based on our investigations so far, the case is in the community, and there are no new cases in the dormitories,” said MOH.
Case 59935 is a 35 year-old female Indian national who is a Long-Term Visit Pass holder. She travelled to India from 30 November 2020 and returned to Singapore on 6 January 2021. Her pre-departure test taken in India on 4 January before her flight was negative for COVID-19. Upon her return, she served SHN at a dedicated facility until 20 January. Her swab done on 17 January during SHN was negative for COVID-19.
She is asymptomatic, and was detected when she took a COVID-19 pre-departure test on 2 February in preparation for another trip to India. Her test result came back positive the next day, and she was conveyed to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in an ambulance.
In addition, there are 17 new imported cases, who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.
Amongst the 17 imported cases, 1 (Case 59919) is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned from India.
1 (Case 59925) is a Work Pass holder who arrived from India.
14 are Work Permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia, of whom 9 (Cases 59912, 59913, 59914, 59924, 59930, 59931, 59932, 59933 and 59934) are foreign domestic workers.
1 (Case 59915) is a sea crew holding a Special Pass who arrived from Indonesia to board a vessel docked here. He was swabbed onboard the vessel, and conveyed to a hospital when his test result came back positive for COVID-19.
Update on condition of confirmed cases
19 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 59,320 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 39 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 214 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
