As of Friday noon (29 Jan), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 24 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 59,449.

Amongst the new cases today, 23 are asymptomatic, and were detected from screening and surveillance, while 1 was symptomatic.

All of the new cases are imported cases, who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Amongst the 24 imported cases, 2 (Cases 59733 and 59753) are Singaporeans and 1 (Case 59731) is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned from Myanmar, Spain and the UAE.

1 (Case 59740) is a Long-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from India.

1 (Case 59736) is a Student’s Pass holder who arrived from India.

1 (Case 59730) is a Work Pass holder who arrived from the UAE.

16 are Work Permit holders who arrived from Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines, of whom 12 (Cases 59732, 59737, 59739, 59741, 59745, 59746, 59747, 59750, 59751, 59752, 59754 and 59755) are foreign domestic workers.

1 (Case 59735) is a Short-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from India to study in Singapore.

1 (Case 59738) is a sea crew holding a Special Pass who arrived from Ukraine onboard a vessel. He was swabbed upon arrival and isolated while awaiting his test result, and conveyed to a hospital subsequently.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

3 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 59,181 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 47 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 192 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
