As of Monday noon (25 Jan), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 44 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
This brings the total number of infection cases to 59,352.
Amongst the new cases today, 40 are asymptomatic and were detected from screening and surveillance, while 4 were symptomatic.
All of the new cases are imported cases, who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.
Amongst the 44 imported cases, 4 (Cases 59604, 59612, 59629 and 59635) are Singaporeans and 2 (Cases 59611 and 59642) are Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, UK and US.
7 (Cases 59603, 59608, 59609, 59616, 59627, 59628 and 59632) are Dependant’s Pass holders who arrived from India, Russia and the UAE.
1 (Case 59643) is a Long-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from the US.
3 (Cases 59601, 59606 and 59638) are Student’s Pass holders who arrived from France, Indonesia and Kazakhstan.
6 (Cases 59602, 59605, 59607, 59630, 59631 and 59633) are Work Pass holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Japan, Poland and Spain.
17 are Work Permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Malaysia, of whom 3 (Cases 59621, 59636 and 59640) are foreign domestic workers.
4 (Cases 59622, 59624, 59625 and 59626) are Short-Term Visit Pass holders who arrived from India to visit their relatives who are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents.
Case 59629 is a 19 year-old female Singaporean who returned from the UK on 6 December and served SHN at a dedicated facility until 20 December. Her swab done on 16 December during SHN was negative for COVID-19. She is asymptomatic, and was detected when she took a COVID-19 pre-departure test on 23 January in preparation for her return to the UK.
Her test result came back positive the next day, and she was conveyed to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. Her Ct value was very high, which is indicative of a low viral load, and her serology test result has also come back positive. Given that these indicate likely past infection, the authority has classified the case as imported based on her travel history. She is likely to be shedding minute fragments of the virus RNA, which are no longer transmissible and infective to others.
Update on condition of confirmed cases
25 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 59,066 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 59 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 198 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
