The police are probing into alleged gambling activities involving patients at the COVID-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) located in Serdang, Selangor.
Several videos have been circulating on social media, showing groups of people playing cards and placing bets with money, turning the quarantine centre into what seems like a ‘mini casino’.
One of the videos even shows a few of them using food items as wager.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said on Wednesday (21 Jan) that a police officer from Datuk Abu Bakar Baginda police station has lodged a police report regarding the issue.
“For now an enquiry paper has been opened. This is to facilitate further investigations and enhance checks on patients at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) quarantine center,” he told The Star.
