Two GrabFood drivers came to the rescue of a distraught man who was facing difficulty acquiring a cab ride to the hospital as his wife was in labour.
Facebook user Park Byung Soo took to his Facebook on Wednesday (13 Jan) to share the heartwarming story that befell him and his pregnant wife.
Mr Park revealed that he was searching for a private hire car to get to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) at around 9.15am yesterday after his wife’s water bag had burst.
Unfortunately, he did not manage to find a ride as there were no cabs available near their place at Sumang Walk, Punggol.
But their situation took a turn for the better when two “kind souls” offered to give them a ride to KKH.
“We were reluctant at first as we do not want to trouble them as we assumed they were on their way to work. But they assured us that it’s no trouble at all,” Mr Park recounted.
He went on to express his utmost gratitude to both the Good Samaritans for their kind deed in a time of need.
“Mr. Jamal & Ms. Fadilah, from the deepest of our heart, we would like to convey our sincere thanks to you. We greatly appreciate it,” Mr Park wrote.
He also shared a picture of Mr Jamal and Ms Fadilah in his post, both of whom appears to be GrabFood riders.

Speaking to Mothership, Mr Jamal said that he was loading belongings into the car when his wife, Ms Fadilah, spotted the couple frantically looking for a private hire car.
They noticed that the pregnant woman appeared to be in some pain, and deduced that she was having contractions.
Hence, they felt “pity” for the couple, and decided to offer a helping hand.
Mr Jamal noted that they were about to get started with work but decided to switch off their GrabFood app upon seeing the couple in distress.
“We are not in a rush to [go to work] because we work as GrabFood rider[s],” he told Mothership, and later clarified that both of them have flexible work schedules.
What’s more, Mr Jamal revealed that they even exchanged contact details and agreed to keep in touch.
“We are planning to meet them once everything [is] settled (at the hospital),” said Mr Jamal, adding that they might even drop by Mr Park’s home for a visit.
