Health Minister Gan Kim Yong and Education Minister Lawrence Wong received the COVID-19 jab on Wednesday (13 January).
8World reported that the co-chairs of Singapore’s COVID-19 task force arrived at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital at 3 pm today to receive the vaccinations.
Mr Gan told reporters later after receiving the injection that over 6,200 people have been vaccinated since Singapore’s vaccination drive began on 30 December last year.
This includes healthcare personnel in public and private hospitals, Home Team officers involved in front-line healthcare operations, and staff from Ren Ci’s Bukit Batok nursing home.
Eligible Singapore Airlines staff, including cabin crew and pilots, also took part in a vaccination exercise carried out at the arrival hall of Changi Airport Terminal 4.
Mr Gan noted that Singapore will have eight vaccination centres by the end of next month, including the existing centres at Changi Airport Terminal 4 and Raffles City Convention Centre.
The centres at the former Hong Kah Secondary School building and Woodlands Galaxy Community Club will be operational starting next week.
Mr Gan said that Singapore will have more centres as the country expands its vaccination programme.
COVID-19 vaccines will also be administered at polyclinics and general practitioner clinics.
