As of Tuesday noon (22 Dec), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 29 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 58,461.

Today marks the highest daily number of cases reported since 21 September, when 31 cases were reported.

Amongst the new cases today, 24 are asymptomatic and were detected from screening and surveillance, while 5 were symptomatic.

All cases are imported, who had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

Amongst them, 4 are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents and 23 are Work Pass holders who are currently employed in Singapore, including 21 foreign domestic workers.

Amongst the 29 imported cases, 3 (Cases 58669, 58686 and 58696) are Singaporeans and 1 (Case 58685) is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned from the US, Costa Rica, Indonesia and India. Another 23 are Work Pass holders (Cases 58668 and 58684) or foreign domestic workers (Cases 58670, 58671, 58672, 58673, 58674, 58675, 58676, 58677, 58678, 58679, 58680, 58681, 58687, 58688, 58689, 58690, 58691, 58692, 58693, 58694 and 58695) currently employed in Singapore who arrived from the US, Philippines, Indonesia and Myanmar.

The remaining 2 cases are Short-Term Visit Pass holders. Case 58682 arrived from India to visit a Singaporean relative, and Case 58683 is a crew member of a ship which arrived from Indonesia. He had not disembarked from the ship until he was conveyed to a quarantine facility.

There are no new cases linked to clusters today.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

17 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 58,304 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 47 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 81 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
