As of Thursday noon (17 Dec), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 24 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 58,377.

Amongst the new cases today, 23 are asymptomatic and were detected from screening and surveillance, while 1 was symptomatic.

All of the new cases are imported cases, who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

“Amongst them, 13 are returning Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents,” said MOH.

Amongst the 24 imported cases, 7 (Cases 58589, 58591, 58595, 58596, 58603, 58605 and 58606) are Singaporeans and 6 (Cases 58583, 58588, 58590, 58597, 58602 and 58604) are Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from Austria, India, Indonesia, Myanmar and the UK.

Another 4 are Work Pass (Cases 58598 and 58601) or Work Permit (Cases 58584 and 58592) holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from India, Indonesia and Maldives.

In addition, there are 5 Dependant’s Pass holders (Cases 58585, 58586, 58587, 58593 and 58594) who arrived from the UK, and a Student’s Pass holder (Case 58600) who arrived from India.

The remaining case (Case 58599) is a Special Pass holder who is a crew member of a ship which arrived from Indonesia. He had not disembarked from the ship and was conveyed to the hospital in an ambulance after he developed symptoms.

There are no new cases linked to clusters today.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

14 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 58,252 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 33 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 63 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

29 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
