喉腔验出鳞状细胞 吴作栋将接受放射治疗
荣誉国务资政吴作栋，昨晚（16日）在脸书透露，他的喉腔被验出鳞状细胞，接下来四周内会进行20次放射治疗，以确保所有癌细胞被杀死。
他刚在上月分享，在新加坡综合医院接受了激光手术，去除肾结石。
不过，过去一个月内他多次进出医院，除了移除了肾结石，也为喉腔中的一个结节进行活检组织检查。
不过，检测结果发现有鳞状细胞，所幸进一步扫描显示，颈部和胸腔则没有发现。接下来一个月都要进行放射治疗来杀死癌细胞。
他不忘提醒民众需定期进行预防性的健康检查，例如卫生部的“定期体检，益您一生”（Screen for Life），可提供国人进行健康检查津贴。
任何人若发现喉部肿胀或出现变声现象，需尽快找耳鼻喉医生看诊。尽早发现能提告五年存活率达九成；若癌细胞扩散则存活率降至30巴仙以下。
