According to the data published by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the past 1 month (13 Nov to 12 Dec), there were altogether 202 COVID-19 imported cases detected.
The coronavirus was detected on travellers from the following countries when they underwent the mandatory Stay-Home Notice (SHN) period of 14 days:
France, US, Japan, India, UAE, Bosnia, UK, Indonesia, Myanmar, Russia, Netherlands, Italy, Philippines, Bangladesh, Montenegro, Sweden, Mexico, Oman, Parkistan, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Malaysia, Nepal, Belarus, Malta, Qatar and Maldives.
Of the 202 COVID-19 imported cases, 101 (50%) came from travellers coming to Singapore from these 2 countries: Indonesia and India.
There were 66 travellers (32.7%) found to be infected with COVID-19 coming from Indonesia vs 35 (17.3%) from India.
Most of the infected cases from Indonesia were Work Permit holders with the majority being foreign domestic workers. Out of the 66 travellers from Indonesia to Singapore, 49 (74%) were Work Permit holders.
In the case of travellers coming back from India, there were 35 cases with the following breakdown:
- PR – 17
- SC – 6
- WP – 6
- Student Pass – 4
- Dependant’s Pass – 1
- Short Term Pass – 1
Coronavirus was also detected on some of the Indian nationals coming to Singapore from other countries like UAE and Maldives.
