Local digital agency RAWR GLOBAL, with the support of SW Strategies, has developed an online platform – theFword.sg – that aggregates all things free to encourage an environmentally-friendly sharing community.

It might be worth mentioning that the letter ‘F’ in theFword stands for ‘Free’.

RAWR GLOBAL came up with the idea of the online portal after Singapore People’s Party (SPP) chairman Jose Raymond, who is the CEO of SW Strategies and also one of RAWR GLOBAL’s clients, bounced over a request from a resident in Joo Seng who wishes to donate his fresh fish to needy residents.

Mr Raymond asked the team at RAWR GLOBAL to come up with a technological solution to help residents who wish to donate or give away items to the needy during these tough times.

theFword was created in attempt to lessen production and wastage as well as to promote a sharing culture. While everything on the site is totally free for users to claim, theFword aims to inspire users to create their own listings too – a simple way to lend a hand to fellow neighbours and friends, ultimately achieving a utopia of an environmentally-friendly sharing community.

The online platform provides links from forums that cater to giving away pre-loved items and food donation, categorised into Fashion, Furniture, and Food for easy access and navigation.

“As a simple yet efficient digital solution, we hope the theFword can be recognised as an important tool that serves the community for the greater good,” said Edmund Shen, chief technology officer at RAWR GLOBAL.

“Social networks are playing a vital role in fostering strong community ties and encouraging community action. Through theFword, we aim to promote a sharing culture and inspire more Singaporeans to do good,” added Fahmy Raimi, chief marketing officer at RAWR GLOBAL.

Moving forward, users can expect more categories and listings every month. A point system, among many new features, will also be introduced where users can claim attractive rewards – such as vouchers from local furniture and food brands – to encourage more to give.

theFword will also be highlighting giveaways by the community through its Facebook page. Members of the public can also provide ideas of new category links or any other contributions via email ([email protected]).
