The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Thursday (26 November) apologised for the typographical error on the Chinese placard which displayed Minister for Manpower and the Second Minister for Home Affairs Josephine Teo’s title.

Lianhe Zaobao reported a MAS spokesperson as saying in response to queries that the Authority is “fully responsible for the mistakes”.

“It is the negligence of the MAS team that was in charge of this event,” said MAS.

The Authority added that it will “further investigate how this negligence happened and enhance our internal procedures to prevent similar mistakes”.

The typo error was spotted by netizens earlier this week on Monday when Ms Teo attended the opening ceremony of 2020 China-Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative Financial Summit (CCI-FS 2020) and delivered a speech through video conference.

Ms Teo’s title – Minister for Manpower and the Second Minister for Home Affairs – is supposed to be written as “人力部长兼内政部第二部长” in Chinese.

However, it was displayed as “人力部长‘坚’内政部第二部长”. The typo was found between the word “” and “”.
