Starting from today (28 October), the Workers’ Party (WP) run Sengkang Town Council (SKTC) will commence the management of Sengkang Town and serve the residents of Sengkang GRC.

“We pledge to faithfully discharge our duties to serve all residents of #SengkangGRC, and we look forward to working with you to make Sengkang Town a better home for all,” Sengkang GRC write in its Facebook post earlier today.

Sengkang GRC also revealed in the press statement that EM Services and CPG Facilities Management will work in collaboration in managing SKTC to “deliver the highest standards of estate management service to Sengkang residents”.

“With both managing agents continuing township management operations, residents of Sengkang GRC can look forward to a smooth handover, and continuity in the provision of township services at Sengkang Town,” the statement read.

The statement also noted that Buangkok, Compassvale and Rivervale wards – which are formerly part of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC and Punggol East – will be managed by EM Services under Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council (PRPTC).

Meanwhile, the Anchorvale ward – which is formerly under Sengkang West SMC – will be managed by CPG Facilities Management under Ang Mo Kio Town Council (AMKTC).

Earlier, The Straits Times reported that the Blocks 301A to 356B in Anchorvale area and Sengkang East Way were handed over to SKTC from AMKTC, while Blocks 201A to 299C in Compassvale area, Blocks 101 to 197 in Rivervale area as well as Blocks 121C to 282C in Sengkang Central and Sengkang East were handed over to SKTC from PRPTC.

Two office premises of PRPTC that located at Block 266 Compassvale Bow and Block 156A Rivervale Crescent in Sengkang GRC were also handed over to SKTC.

Following the handover process, SKTC pointed out that the residents who pay their Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC) in cash can pay to the town councils at the both offices from 28 October.

“No further action is required for the residents with existing GIRO and recurring credit card payment arrangements, as SKTC is currently working with the previous two councils to effect the changes without any disruption,” SKTC said in its statement.

At the same time, according to Government Gazette on Tuesday (27 October), SKTC has also appointed its key officer including secretary, general manager and finance manager, which respectively undertake by Muhammad Imran Kuna bin Abdullah, Koh Thian Hee, Jonathan and Grace Yuan Weilin.

Beside this, He Ting Ru and Chua Kheng Wee will serve as SKTC Chairman and Vice-chairman, with all four of Sengkang’s MPs including Jamus Lim and Raeesah Khan serving as elected town councillors.

The former MP for Punggol East SMC Lee Li Lian is also serving as an appointed town councillor.

SKTC is a new town council formed in the recent GE2020. The town includes the Sengkang GRC, which was carved out from areas from Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, Punggol East SMC and Sengkang West SMC.

During the GE2020, the WP’s team comprising He Ting Ru, Louis Chua, Jamus Lim and Raeesah Khan won the Sengkang GRC with 52.13 per cent of the votes, defeating the team of People’s Action Party (PAP).

Upon reading the announcements, the netizens also expressed congratulations to the Sengkang team while looking forward for the team to do well and set as good example.
