The Philippines’ COVID-19 taskforce has lifted the restriction of non-essential travel of Filipinos, which will take effect starting next Wednesday, said the Philippines’s Office of the Presidential Spokesperson on Friday (16 October).

In the press statement, the presidential office said that Filipinos travelling in tourist visas may be allowed to leave the country starting 21 October, subject to the submission of confirmed roundtrip tickets as well as adequate travel and health insurance.

It also stated that travellers have to sign an immigration declaration acknowledging the risks involved in travelling and present a negative antigen result from a test taken within 24 hours before departure, subject to the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.

“Outbound Filipino travellers shall likewise follow the Guidelines of the National Task Force (NTF) for returning overseas Filipinos,” the statement read.

According to the government’s public advisory, all rreturning overseas Filipinos whether via sea or land are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine in dedicated isolation facilities upon arrival in the country while waiting for a negative swab test result.
