KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — As the number of new COVID-19 cases continues to spike in Malaysia, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced earlier today (12 October) that the central regions of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor are set to go into Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) starting Wednesday (14 October).

The National Security Council (MKN) stated that the CMCO will take place for 14 days beginning 12.01am on Wednesday. It is slated to end on 27 October.

Residents in the three affected areas will no longer be allowed to travel across districts.

Those who need to do so for work purposes are required to provide their work passes or authorisation letters from their employers.

Only two persons in a household are allowed to leave their homes to buy groceries and other essential items.

All schools, institutes, universities, public areas, worship places and entertainment premises will be closed.

Activities such as sports, recreation, and social events will not be permitted as well.

More details will be released by MKN soon.
