Short term visitors to Singapore can now purchase COVID-19 insurance
Singapore has launched Dubbed ChangiAssure that enables short term visitors to purchase COVID-19 insurance that offers up to S$100,000 of hospitalization cover.
Business Times reported on Friday (9 Oct) that the insurance is only available for short term visitors from China, Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
The insurance, Dubbed ChangiAssure, is a product underwritten by HL Assurance and distributed by Changi Travel Services.
Travellers can purchase the insurance when they arrived in Singapore or before arrival, and it is offered in two tiers: Basic plan and Superior plan.
The Basic plan provides up to S$8,000 of coverage for hospitalisation or expenses at a quarantine facility, in the event the cover holder is infected with COVID-19 during his or her time in Singapore. This plan is priced at about S$75 for a three-week visit to Singapore.
The Superior plan, which costs about S$331.50, covers for the same purpose but offers up to S$100,000 of coverage. It also covers for accidental hospitalization expenses unrelated to COVID-19, and up to S$200,000 for death and disability in the city-state.
Additionally, the Superior plan also covers travel inconveniences in Singapore such as loss of baggage and personal effects, travel delays and trip curtailment.
Cover holders can submit their insurance claims via online or at physical counters at Singapore’s Changi Airport.
The insurance is not available for travellers above the age of 70 and below the age of three.
