关怀边缘少年工作任重道远 工人党佘雪玲向社工致敬

工人党佘雪玲昨日(23日)在脸书上发长文,谈及与青少年工作的过程,具有深远意义,但过程非常艰辛,任重道远,令他对参与社工的坚持不懈肃然起敬。

她昨日(23日)偕同工人党党魁毕丹星,到访位于淡滨尼的东北区Youth GO!关怀角落,与这个非营利组织的团队交流。该区负责的范围也涵盖工人党的三个选区:阿裕尼、后港及盛港。

Youth GO!计划是社会发展、青年及体育部的援助计划,服务对象包括12岁至21岁的青少年,展开辅导、团队和社区工作,也包括边缘少年等。

佘雪玲对此发表了五点看法,首先,她认同Youth GO!计划的宗旨,即能够针对青少年问题,对症下药,非常具有价值。她认为,“对于滥用药物,或出现略微侵略行为的青少年,学校和家庭可能无法及时为他们提供协助,而外展的工作可能更容易接触青少年。

其次,她也谈及Youth Go!可以协助政策的推动和落实,尽管政策的主旨是有益于青少年,但往往在落实方面产生差距,而且从推动到落实相关政策,实际上需要大量的时间和经历投入。

“当局很难追踪到每个人(这是可以理解的),这也是为什么需要类似Youth Go!的组织。”

此外,谈及如何接触青少年,一名社工也分享,为何选择在组屋底层和青少年们聚餐,而不是在餐馆内,这是因为青少年在更自在的空间,除了能抽烟,更能对社工坦诚相对。

“一个简单而又意义的解决方案,并非只是告诉他不要吸烟,或是把他们带到有空调的地方。”

她认为,贴近青少年的方式是主动向他们靠近,了解他们的世界,而非期待他们自寻上门求助。

另一方面,她也发现,由于疫情的影响,青少年的活动空间也开始受限,从原本的组屋底层,因聚会人数受限,而开始转移到其他隐秘空间。大部分是趁父母外出,在自家的空间,或是在僻静的地区进行,这也增加了追踪的难度。

对于青少年工作,佘雪玲表示,此项工作举足轻重,但也异常困难。员工甚至花费更多精力,超出工时,举办外展工作,因此,她也向这些默默付出的追踪人员致敬。

“青少年工作具有深远意义,而且非常困难。Youth Go!员工也愿意拨出更多的时间,甚至额外的工时,去做外展工作。非常敬佩他们的毅力和奉献。”
