Minister for Manpower Josephine Teo teared up in Parliament yesterday (1 Sep) as she concluded her speech on job anxieties among Singaporeans, assuring that the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has the best interests of all workers in mind.
“Please know that you too are always in our hearts. However long this storm lasts, MOM will walk the journey together with you. However tough it may be, we will help you bounce back,” said Ms Teo in a teary tone.
Following this outwardly emotional scene in Parliament, People’s Voice (PV) chief Lim Tean took to his Facebook earlier today (2 Sep) to call out the People’s Action Party (PAP) ministers for shedding tears whenever they are force to come to terms with their failures.
“These so called 4G PAP Ministers are a pathetic lot who cry in Parliament every so often when they are confronted with the ugly truth of their incompetence!” he wrote.
According to Mr Lim, when the ruling party was unable to handle the COVID-19 pandemic effectively, it cried for the frontline workers. Similarly, tears started rolling down when it could not protect Singaporean jobs.
“If only Politics was about crying, the best school at teaching how to cry would be the mandatory first stop for all aspiring Politicians,” he remarked.
Mr Lim stressed that Singaporeans ought to be served by men and women who are resolute in putting people first and protecting their interest.
“No amount of tears can wash away the shame of having Singapore being described as one of the greatest failures in the World as far as Covid is concerned, or the anxiety of Singaporeans who are seeing their jobs being taken away by foreigners, or the anger of the Many who see through all the empty words being spilled in Parliament about protecting Singaporean jobs when there is no sincerity in changing the existing labour policies which have led to nearly 400,000 Foreign PMETs working in our country!” he asserted.
Mr Lim went on to say that these weak men and women of the PAP will bring Singapore to utter ruin in the next decade.
Hence, he reiterated the need for strong men and women – who have faced down the adversities of life – to pull Singapore through the greatest crisis of modern times, adding that the country does not need “cry babies who have been pampered by high salaries and live in ivory towers”.
