In a video that has gone viral, a Malaysian traffic police officer was seen kicking a motorcyclist off the motorcycle for attempting to evade the police.

The incident reportedly took place at Jalan Temple in Sibu, Sarawak, at around noon.

The footage, which was recorded by a bystander, shows several cars and motorcycles travelling along the street where a few traffic police officers are stationed to monitor the traffic and conduct inspections.

One of the officers can be seen signalling for the motorcycles to stop by the side of the road – most likely for inspection – when all of a sudden, one motorcyclist decides to go rogue as he makes an abrupt u-turn in attempt to evade from the police.

To his surprise – and perhaps everyone else’s including the person behind the camera – another officer approaches him and knocks him off his bike with a karate-like kick.

Watch the footage here:

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said that the police officer is being investigated for the use of force, adding that stern action will be taken against him if he is found guilty.

“So far, we are investigating the matter. Action will be taken if the officer is found to have been negligent in his actions and acted aggressively while carrying out his duties,” he noted, as cited by New Straits Times.

Aidi also clarified about the motorcyclist, stating that the motorcyclist did not have a licence and that his road tax had expired.

“The motorcyclist will also be summoned for riding in the opposite direction and modifying the exhaust pipe (of his bike),” he added.
