As of Saturday noon (8 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 132 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore, the vast majority of whom are Work Permit holders residing in a few standalone blocks in the dormitories that serve as quarantine facilities.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 54,929.

There is one case in the community, who is a Singaporean.

In addition, there are six imported cases who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

All the new cases are linked to known clusters.

The Inter-agency Taskforce has completed the clearing of dormitories through aggressive testing of workers. The following dormitories have been cleared, and now house only recovered individuals and those who have recently tested negative for COVID-19 infection. As such, the clusters have now been closed:

• Blue Stars Dormitory (3 Kian Teck Lane)
• Joo Koon Lodge (68 Joo Koon Circle)
• Kranji Lodge I (12 Kranji Road)
• S11 Dormitory @ Punggol (2 Seletar North Link)
• Toh Guan Dormitory (19A Toh Guan Road East)
• 10 Gul Drive
• 2 Kampong Ampat
• 31 Kranji Crescent
• 9 Sungei Kadut Street 3
• 40 Tuas View Square
• 109 Tuas View Walk 1
• 64 Woodlands Industrial Park E9

One new cluster was identified

  1. 18 of the newly confirmed cases are linked to seven previous cases to form a new cluster at a dormitory at 35 Kian Teck Way.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

271 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 48,583 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 145 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 6,174 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

27 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
