As of Saturday noon (1 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 307 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore, the vast majority of whom are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 52,512.

There is one case in the community, who is a Singaporean.

In addition, there are five imported cases who had been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

Of the new cases, 99% are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

The Inter-Agency Task Force has been systematically and progressively clearing dormitories through aggressive testing of migrant workers residing in dormitories. The following dormitories have been cleared, and now house only recovered individuals and those who have recently tested negative for COVID-19 infection. As such, the clusters have now been closed:

• 9 Sungei Kadut Way;
• 5 Tech Park Crescent;
• 14 Tech Park Crescent;
• 54 Tech Park Crescent;
• 43 Tuas View Close;
• 21 Tuas View Loop;
• 12 Tuas View Place;
• 21 Tuas View Square;

No new clusters were identified.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

249 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 46,740 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 117 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit. 5,628 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

27 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
