According to an article by Bangkok Post on Thursday (23 July), the World Health Organization (WHO) is currently producing a documentary about the success of Thailand and New Zealand in handling and curbing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon hearing this news, Peoples Voice Political Party (PV) chief Lim Tean took to his Facebook to call out the People’s Action Party (PAP) for its incompetence and failure in dealing with the pandemic.

“Thailand has been chosen together with New Zealand by WHO to be the standard bearers for countries which have done very well in containing Covid19,” he wrote.

“Meanwhile, our incompetent so called 4G leaders have saddled us with the tag of one of the greatest failures in the world on Covid.”

Given that a few months ago Singapore was prematurely lauded by the WHO and international press as having a gold standard in terms of containing the coronavirus, Mr Lim questioned if the ruling party has “given back” the country’s gold standard considering the COVID-19 situation in Singapore at the moment.

He went on to say that former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had assured everyone that the COVID-19 situation in the country had been stabilised when the General Election (GE) was called for.

However, Mr Lim pointed out that immediately after the GE, Singaporeans were warned of the possibility of a second wave while the number of daily cases appears to be on the rise once again.

“The sad part is that Covid has been used as a political Football by the PAP, ignoring the grave consequences to the public health!” he remarked.
