The Singapore People’s Party (SPP) candidate for Bishan Toa-Payoh GRC Khan Osman Sulaiman took to his Facebook on Monday (6 July) to call on Singaporeans to “remember the broken promises of the People’s Action Party (PAP)”.
Mr Osman first described the Central Provident Fund (CPF) as a “national treasure”, saying that the people’s hard-earned savings were withheld by the PAP as they “shifted the goal post many times”.
With the inflation rate, he then cautioned that the minimum sum of CPF will increase every year, adding that “we may never be able to utilise our savings even if we get sick”.
Touching about the local employment issue, Mr Osman voiced his concern about the increasing number of foreign workforce in the country in recent times.
“There is no capping the number of foreigners to work in Singapore. Any increase in number, is a job lost for locals while we battle unemployment and under employment,” he said.
Noting that the SP group makes millions of dollars of profit annually, Mr Osman asserted that the utility bill hikes of 30 per cent “surely is unjustified” as many people are out of jobs and retrenched during this period of time.
He ended his post by stressing that the nation needs a government that will prioritise the people’s interest.
“Let’s put back hearts in governing our nation. Capitalist mindset has served its purposes. We need a government who can empathise with the people.”
