On Sunday (5 July), People’s Voice (PV) chief Lim Tean took to his Facebook to spell out the consequences for the next five years if the People’s Action Party (PAP) is returned with the huge mandate in this coming General Election (GE).

Mr Lim started off his video by cautioning that PAP is starting to fear monger to claim that they may not win this year’s election.

He claimed that PAP is “endangering the people’s lives”, saying the PAP is “making COVID out to be a crisis, hoping that people will flee to the ruling party, so that the opposition will be wiped out completely.”

“And that is their plan, on the 11th of July, they hoped that the Singapore Parliament (will) be 93 PAPs, zero opposition,” he noted.

Speaking of the consequences, Mr Lim first reminded the public about the raising of taxes to cover expenses which has been raised by the PAP’s First Assistant Secretary-General Heng Swee Keat a few years ago.

He continues, “And it’s not just taxes, it has been the increasing of your conservancy charges, the increasing of electricity tariff, your water tax and a range of other costs of living issue. And it has also meant that fewer and fewer jobs are being created for Singaporeans.

“And I asked the parents who are watching this video to think of your next generation. Are they coming up to a future that is better than yours? Or do you think that if the PAP has the huge mandate, they are going to have a lesser future?” the Party’s chief stated.

Speaking in the video, Mr Lim also described that a delivery person had complained to him about the poor condition of the estate roads where they have to ride on the left side, yet the left side of the road are full of pot odds and not well-maintained.

“So, do not think that the PAP is the answer to the good management of the estates,” he added.

He ended his video by urging the public to “not give in to fear monger(ing)” and think about the consequences of returning the PAP with huge mandates.

“I will be speaking to you a lot in the coming days because we are heading towards the end of election but my message to you today is do not give in to the fear monger. You have now to think of yourself and your next generation and the consequences of returning the PAP with the huge mandate on election day,” he remarked.
