People’s Action Party’s (PAP) newcomer to the Marine Parade GRC team Tan See Leng took to Facebook on Tuesday (30 June) to address a post that has been floating around which said that he holds over 60 directorships.
The post called into question Mr Tan’s ability to serve his constituents given the number of directorships he allegedly holds.
In a post, Mr Tan said he wished to correct the “wrong impression”, explaining that the directorships were the result of his position as the Group Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of the listed company IHH Healthcare Bhd, adding that his contract with the company ended on 31 December 2019, said Mr Tan.
“With the cessation of my employment, all my directorships of active companies related to the group have also ceased at the end of 31 Dec 2019,” he elaborated.
“The directorships listed are part of dormant companies in the process of undergoing voluntary liquidation and winding up which do not require any active work nor time.”
Mr Tan then listed the four directorships he currently still holds which are with Surbana Jurong, the social enterprise raiSE, NUH Fund Limited, and NUH Health Research Endowment Fund. Only the Surbana Jurong directorship is a paid position, according to Mr Tan.
He added, “I am also helping Temasek Foundation as an adviser and I have elected not to be paid as well but to serve as a volunteer.”
Mr Tan is part of the PAP team contesting at Marine Parade GRC alongside Edwin Tong, Tan Chuan-Jin, Seah Kian Peng, and Fahmi Aliman. They are up against the Workers’ Party’s Nathaniel Koh, Fadli Fawzi, Ron Tan, Yee Jenn Jong, and Azhar Abdul Latip.
