The Singapore People’s Party (SPP) will be contesting against the People’s Action Party (PAP) in the Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC) for the upcoming General Election (GE).

“The Stars and Lightning Bolts are showing up in Bishan Toa Payoh GRC!” Steve Chia, the secretary-general of SPP, wrote on his Facebook earlier today (30 June).

Mr Chia also posted a photo showing the election posters of SPP and PAP being put up on the lamp posts of their constituency.

For the coming election, SPP will field a team of four which includes Mr Chia, the Party’s Vice-Chairman Williamson Lee, as well as member Khan Osman Sulaiman and Melvyn Chiu.

They will be contesting against the PAP team led by the former MPs for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC Ng Eng Hen, Chee Hong Tat, Saktiandi Supaat, and Chong Kee Hiong.

Speaking to the media after the nomination process earlier, Mr Chia said that his team will be taking their time to “understand the wants, the desires and the needs of residents” while working together with the residents to identify the area that they want to improve on, as reported by Channel New Asia.
