On 13 May, Deliveroo Singapore announced a string of measures to support its partners during the COVID-19 pandemic after more than 1,000 restaurants islandwide joined the platform.
One of the measures introduced by the award-winning food delivery platform is the new tipping functionality for customers to add a tip to their order in support of their favourite restaurants.
Deliveroo will then match the first 10,000 customer tips until 1 June, which will go directly to its restaurant partners.
Good news is that as of today (26 May) – which is less a fortnight since the tipping functionality was launched on 15 May – customers in Singapore have generously contributed a staggering 18,350 tips totalling S$18,340.
As committed, Deliveroo will match the first 10,000 tips donated dollar-for-dollar, bringing the total amount donated to S$29,272.46.
What’s more, in addition to the initial commitment of matching the first 10,000 donations, Deliveroo announced that it will continue to match 10,000 more customer tips till 1 June.
All tips and Deliveroo’s contributions are not subject to any commission, and will go directly to the restaurant in full.
“We’re absolutely floored by Singaporeans’ generosity. As a company that loves food, it’s heartening to see Singaporeans wanting to contribute as well to help our local F&B community,” said Sarah Tan, Director of Growth & Marketing and Interim General Manager at Deliveroo Singapore.
“We’ve seen and heard from our restaurant partners how valuable these donations are at this crucial time, which is why Deliveroo has decided to extend the campaign by matching an additional 10,000 customer tips,” she added.
Deliveroo is hoping to reach its target of S$60,000 – including both customers’ and Deliveroo’s contributions – which will go a long way in supporting its restaurant partners.
To donate, customers can simply opt in to add a tip to their order when checking out on the Deliveroo app, either by rounding up their order amount to the nearest dollar or nominating a tip amount of their choice.
