A 20-year-old Singaporean man has been arrested by the Singapore Police Force in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man at Punggol Field Road which happened last Sunday (10 May).
The 38-yr-old victim was found injured in a pool of blood at a bus stop opposite Block 227A Sumang Lane on 10 May and taken to Sengkang General Hospital where he died from his injuries.
According to reports, he was stabbed multiple times by knife. The victim was said to be out on a late-night jog prior to the incident.
According to the Police, the man was identified on 16 May 2020 at 2.45am following round-the-clock investigations, extensive ground enquiries and expansive review of CCTV footage and subsequently arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is not known to the victim and is believed to have acted alone. Police investigations are continuing.
The man will be charged in court tomorrow (17 May) with murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries the death penalty.
The Police shared that it will work with the prosecution to seek a court order for the man to be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric evaluation.
