租房不符安全距离需搬离 客工却面对租金涨两难处境

义工认为,尽管人力部力图确保安全距离,惟他也呼吁该部需解决政策下延伸的这些问题。

我国过去几周内确诊病例暴增,其中大部分的感染患者皆为客工。为抑制病毒持续传染,政府也于4月7日开始实施阻断措施(Circuit Breaker),然而在阻断措施实施期间,疫情仍未见好转,近日政府再度宣布延长阻断措施直至6月1日。

截至14日,我国累计确诊达2万6098例,其中共有2万3758人皆为客工,对此人力部也加强了客工宿舍的措施,除了为客工设立临时客工专用宿舍与工厂改建宿舍,以确保社交距离能够有效实施。而客工宿舍的条件也称是卫生条件良好的。

然而,针对仍住宿在外的客工而言,有者却不那么幸运,尤其是住在店屋的客工。

新加坡客工组织情义之家(HOME)的个案管理经理Luke Tan表示,一些客工被迫从他们的居住地搬走,当局在检查后发现他们的房间内过于拥挤,不符合条例。

“许多客工已搬离,因为房间被发现太拥挤。”

房东还要加租金

他表示,尽管是为了安全着想,但此举也让许多客工被迫露宿街头。更糟糕的是,有房东还试图起租金,使得客工的处境举步维艰。

此外,向来关注客工课题的维权人士柯基拉(Kokila Annamalai)也为客工的不公平的对待打抱不平。她表示,这也显示客工面临不公平对待的铁证,应同时也必须设法安置客工。

她认为,若更多客工无家可归,致使他们更易感染冠状病毒19,同时调高房租更促使他们背负更多的压力。

尽管人力部力图确保安全距离,惟他也呼吁该部需解决政策下延伸的这些问题。
