As of Tuesday noon (12 May), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 884 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
This brings the total tally of infected cases to 24,706.
There are only 4 cases of community infection (3 Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, 1 Work Passes), 3 cases involving Work Permit holders residing outside dormitories and 877 cases involving Work Permit holders residing in dormitories.
There are no imported cases today.
Of the new cases, 98% are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

Seven new clusters identified

  1. Three of the newly confirmed cases are linked to 14 previous cases to form a new cluster at 45 Kian Teck Drive.
  2. Five of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to form a new cluster at 3 Loyang Way 6.
  3. 13 of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to form a new cluster at 36 Senoko Road.
  4. Three of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to form a new cluster at 7 Senoko South Road.
  5. 27 of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to form a new cluster at 3 Sungei Kadut Avenue.
  6. Two of the newly confirmed cases are linked to one previous case to form a new cluster at 46 Tech Park Crescent.
  7. Six of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to form a new cluster at 5 Woodlands Industrial Park E1.

Cases from public healthcare sector

Case 24016 is a 63-year-old female Singapore Citizen who has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 11 May and is currently warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.
She is employed as a nurse clinician at Singapore General Hospital but had not gone to work since the onset of symptoms.
Case 24255 is a 55-year-old female Singapore Citizen who has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 11 May and is currently warded at Changi General Hospital (CGH).
Prior to hospital admission, she had gone to work for a few hours as a patient service associate at CGH.

Update on condition of confirmed cases

626 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 3,851 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 1,132 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 20 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 19,667 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
21 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
Case 23908, a 50-year-old male Thai national, has passed away on 12 May 2020. He had been sent to the emergency department at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital after suffering respiratory arrest on 10 May. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 11 May. The cause of death is cerebral haemorrhage.
Case 24013, a 31-year-old male Indian national, has passed away on 10 May 2020. He had collapsed after complaining of chest pain while at his dormitory. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection after his demise on 11 May. The cause of death is coronary thrombosis.
The Ministry in its statement on Monday (11 May) said that the lower number of cases recorded yesterday was “partly due to fewer tests being processed at a testing laboratory”.
The testing laboratory in question, said MOH yesterday, is “recalibrating its apparatus for one of the test kits”.
