As of 6 May 2020, 12 pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 788 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
This brings the total tally of cases in Singapore to 20,198.
There are 13 cases of community infection (11 Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, 2 Work Passes), 16 cases involving Work Permit holders residing outside dormitories and 759 cases involving Work Permit holders residing in dormitories.
There are no imported cases today.
Of the new cases, 93% are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.
Seven new clusters identified

  1. 11 of the newly confirmed cases are linked to two previous cases to form a new cluster at 20 Benoi Lane.
  2. 38 of the newly confirmed cases are linked to 17 previous cases to form a new cluster at 5 Fourth Chin Bee Road.
  3. Six of the newly confirmed cases are linked to nine previous cases to form a new cluster at 36 & 38 Kian Teck Drive.
  4. 10 of the newly confirmed cases are linked to 56 previous cases to form a new cluster at Tampines Street 62.
  5. One of the newly confirmed cases is linked to eight previous cases to form a new cluster at 14 Tech Park Crescent.
  6. 16 of the earlier confirmed cases have now been linked to form a new cluster at 50A Tuas Link 4.
  7. One of the newly confirmed cases is linked to 24 previous cases to form a new cluster at 35 Tuas View Walk 2.

19th and 20th death from complications due to COVID-19 infection
MOH announced that Case 1414, a 97-year-old female Singapore Citizen, has passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on 5 May 2020 night. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 7 April and had a history of hypertension. The National Centre for Infectious Diseases has reached out to her family and is extending assistance to them.
Case 1528, a 73 year-old male Singapore Citizen, has passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on 6 May 2020. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 7 April, and had a history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and diabetes mellitus. Singapore General Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.
Update on condition of confirmed cases

115 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
In all, 1,634 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There are currently 1,462 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 23 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 17,082 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
20 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
