The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified an additional 447 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore on Saturday (2 May).
There was no imported case again on Saturday. A single digit count for community cases, 6 in total (4 Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, 2 Work Passes).
10 cases of infected Work Permit holders who are residing outside dormitories. and once again a three digit count for Work Permit holders residing in dormitories who are infected with the virus, at 431 cases.
Of the new cases, 93% are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.
Among the updates, MOH announced another death that is attributed to COVID-19 infection which brings the total tally of deaths from the virus to 17.
Case 1323, a 76 year-old male Singapore Citizen, was said to have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on 1 May 2020. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 6 April, and had a history of cancer. Changi General Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.
Another death which happened on the same day, however, was not classified as a death due to COVID-19. Case 17410, a 47 year-old male Bangladeshi national, who also passed away on 1 May 2020, was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection after his demise. Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of death.
