Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) released a statement on their website yesterday (14 April), announcing that a teaching staff had been confirmed with COVID-19.
It had been announced by the ECDA that My First Skool at 295A Compassvale Crescent in Sengkang will be closed temporarily from 15 to 21 April, for a total of 14 days. Therefore, all staff and children will be placed on a Leave of Absence during the closure period.
The teaching staff who was tested COVID-19 positive was last seen in the Centre on 7 April, and the two-week closure would cover the 14-day incubation period.
According to the statement, the Centre will resume limited service provision on 22 April to serve the group of parents who are working in essential services and are unable to extend their alternative care arrangements beyond the closure period.
Despite the closure, contact tracing is on-going. The Centre is also closely monitoring its staff and parents on the health of their children. The Centre will also conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the preschool premise.
To follow the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health and ECDA, the Centre will restrict visitors, suspend large group and communal activities, as well as excursions and field trips. Health checks and stepped-up temperature screening will be carried out on all children and staff.
In the statement, ECDA mentioned that they will monitor the situation closely and work with the management, staff, parents and children at the Centre to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all. High standards of personal and environmental hygiene are demanded, and preschools are reminded to be vigilant when conducting health checks.

“ECDA will continue to monitor the situation closely, and work with the management, staff, parents and children at the Centre to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all. Preschools are reminded to be vigilant when conducting health checks, and to observe high standards of personal and environmental hygiene. This includes keeping the centre environment clean, and frequent washing of hands with soap – especially before eating or handling food, after toilet visits or when hands are dirtied by respiratory secretions after coughing or sneezing,” wrote ECDA.
