In these dire times with masks and protective gear being prioritised for front line workers, the rest of society seems is taking it in their stride to work out ways to protect themselves using other things.
As people start to adjust to the ‘new normal’ of living in a socially distant society which requires a heightened sense of safety when venture out into the world, some have resorted to particularly creative and fun ways to keep themselves ‘isolated’ from the outside world when going out to get essentials.
On 31 March, popular Facebook page SGAG shared a video of a person doing their supermarket shopping in Singapore while wearing an inflatable dinosaur costume. The t-rex can be seen browsing while onlookers sneak a peek at this prehistoric shopper who seems to have not a care in the world.
Another Facebook post, this time by Michael Ee today (13 April), shows another person getting food at a hawker stall in an inflatable suit, this time of an astronaut, complete with a bubble head — presumably in Malaysia.
Even in times like these, people are managing to maintain a sense of humour and creativity.
These inflatable suits and many like it are available online at stores like Lazada, Shopee, and Taobao for about S$45 including shipping.
