The number of new COVID-19 cases in Singapore hit a record of 74 with the latest announcement from the Ministry of Health (MOH) yesterday (1 Apr).
Of the 74, 20 were imported cases and 54 were locally transmitted ones who have no recent travel history abroad. The number of locally transmitted cases have exceeded those imported ones:

  • The 20 imported cases had travel history to Australia, Europe, South America, Africa, ASEAN and other parts of Asia.
  • 29 cases are linked to previous cases or clusters.
  • 25 cases are currently unlinked, and contact tracing is ongoing.

As of yesterday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Singapore has hit 1000.
Despite the many measures introduced by the government to address the spread of the disease, the number of locally transmitted unlinked cases has been rising since mid-March, according to the information gathered from MOH’s website.

These are cases which cannot be linked to existing infected cases immediately at the time of reporting. The number of daily new cases, including imported, locally linked and locally unlinked ones, is also seen to be on the rise.

Just yesterday, there were 25 unlinked cases, exceeding the previous high of 18 reached on the day before yesterday (31 Mar). The previous record for the number of new COVID-19 cases was 73 set on 25 Mar.
