A FairPrice Finest supermarket located at Bedok Mall has been closed for 3 days after one of its staff tested positive for COVID-19, NTUC FairPrice said in a press statement on Wednesday (1 April).
NTUC FairPrice stated that the outlet will reopen its doors on Saturday (4 April) after completing deep cleaning.
“The store will be closed for three days, for deep cleaning procedures, in line with the national Environment Agency’s guidelines to disinfect the premises and will re-open on Saturday, 4 April 2020,” FairPrice explained.

It added that the affected staff worked in the back-end of the store replenishing stock and “has minimal contact with customers”.
If that’s not all, the staff has also been placed under quarantine and is being monitored by healthcare personnel. As for all the other staff in the store, they have been put on leave of absence, said FairPrice.
It explained that the affected employee came to work last on 25 March, and was on leave since 26 March and even visited a doctor a day later for a fever.
However, the staff’s was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Tuesday (31 March) evening, resulting to the closure of the store so immediate cleaning can be carried out.

“The employee has since been on medical leave. FairPrice is extending all the necessary assistance to the affected staff and the employee’s family during this time,” it noted.
It added, “FairPrice is monitoring the situation closely and is working with authorities to assist them with contact tracing and ensure all stores are safe for customers and staff.”
Due to this inconvenience, FairPrice has also extended its apology to its customers and encouraged them to visit its nearest outlet at Blk 212 Bedok North Street 1 for the time being.
“The co-operative apologises for any inconvenience caused and would like to assure the community that it is sparing no effort to protect its staff and customers so that they can continue to work and shop in a safe and healthy environment,” FairPrice expressed.
Additionally, it also said that ever since the deadly coronavirus hit Singapore early this year, the company has put in place stringent precautionary measures in order to ensure a safe and clean environment for staff and customers.
“These measures include stepping up cleaning regimes, especially for high touch surfaces like railings, trolleys, baskets, checkout counters every four hours. All staff and suppliers will also have their temperature taken at least twice a day and hand sanitisers have been made available for customers to use,” it said.
It continued, “Customers are also encouraged to maintain safe distancing. Floor markings at checkout queues, in-store posters and announcements have been put in place to remind customers to do so.”

China dropped the price…
