47 new cases of COVID-19; 39 imported cases from various countries
As of 21 March 2020, 12 pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified an additional 39 imported and eight local cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore.
- The 39 imported cases (Cases 387, 389, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 397, 399, 400, 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 407, 408, 409, 410, 411, 412, 413, 414, 415, 416, 417, 418, 419, 420, 421, 422, 423, 424, 425, 427, 428, 429, 431 and 432) had travel history to Australia, Europe, North America, ASEAN and other parts of Asia.
- 33 were returning residents and long-term pass holders;
- Six were short term visitors;
- Two are linked to previous cases (Case 388 is linked to Case 351; and Case 430 is linked to Case 350);
- Six are currently unlinked (Cases 386, 395, 396, 398, 406 and 426).
This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 432 so far.
Update on condition of confirmed cases
To date, a total of 140 cases have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from the hospital. Of the 290 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital, most are stable or improving. 14 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Earlier this morning, the ministry confirmed that two patients have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection on Saturday (21 March) morning.
The first patient was a 75-year-old female Singapore Citizen. She was admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on 23 February for pneumonia and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on the same day. She had a history of chronic heart disease and hypertension.
The second patient was a 64-year-old male Indonesian national. He was admitted in critical condition to the ICU at NCID on 13 March, after arriving in Singapore from Indonesia on the same day, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 14 March.
