The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday (26 Feb) served charges against Chinese nationals Hu Jun and Shi Sha for false information to its officials during their process of contact tracing of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Mr Hu, 38, is from Wuhan while his wife Ms Shi, 36, is a resident of Singapore.

Mr Hu arrived in Singapore on 22 January, and was diagnosed with COVID-19 on 31 January. Mr Hu was discharged from the hospital on 19 February after he had recovered.

Ms Shi was issued a quarantine order earlier on 1 February, as she was identified as a close contact of Mr Hu. This was part of the contact tracing process by MOH to identify those who may have been exposed to someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 while symptomatic.

The couple’s case will be heard in court this Friday (28 Feb).

US becomes first country to approve Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine

The US has approved the world’s first vaccine for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), with drugmaker GSK’s Arexvy being green-lighted for adults aged 60 and older. RSV is a common virus that can be serious for infants, the elderly, and those with weak immune systems. Other vaccine makers, including Pfizer and Moderna, are expected to follow soon. Rates of RSV and flu fell during COVID-19 lockdowns, but surged when restrictions were lifted, with young children hit hard.
