疫情当前 前进党、民主党反对涨消费税

新加坡副总理暨财政部长王瑞杰,将在下周二(18日)在国会发表2020年财政预算案。

新加坡前进党和民主党不约而同在昨日(12日)发表文告,对2020财政预算案提出政策献议,其中包括呼吁政府应顾虑老百姓的生活成本负担,未来不应提高消费税。

前进党的公共政策小组,在文告中对国家当前经济困境提出看法,其中建议政府,承诺在至少未来五年内不提高消费税(GST)或任何会导致生活及商业成本增加的公共费用。

“我国目前稳固的财政实力足以让我们通过推行可持续的长期政策,在根本上解决国人在生活成本、房价和医疗费用上涨,跟外国人的就业竞争,退休金的不足,以及社会不平等等日益加剧的问题。 ”

至于民主党文告则指出,体恤很赞赏医疗专家们以及前线医护人员的抗疫工作;且有鉴于全球新型冠状病毒在全球扩散,可能将对全球和我国经济造成冲击,对此也建议不应在选举后涨消费税。

在去年11月,王瑞杰以行动党第一助理秘书长身份在行动党党大会发表演说,称提早宣布消费税将调高能让企业和人民都有所准备,不隐瞒艰难的事实,“才是诚信”。

至于国家发展部长黄循财则指出,下周的财政预算案,将涵盖“强有力”经济配套,以缓解疫情构成经济下行的风险。
