The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on Sunday early morning that another imported case of Wuhan coronavirus infection in Singapore has been identified, making a total of four confirmed cases thus far.

Three confirmed cases were earlier announced on 23 and 24 January.

The fourth confirmed case is a 36 year-old male Chinese national from Wuhan who arrived in Singapore with his family on 22 January. He is currently warded in an isolation room at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) and his condition is stable.

It is said that the infected individual was asymptomatic during the flight to Singapore. He subsequently developed a cough on 23 January, and presented at SKH Emergency Department on 24 January. He was classified as a suspect case and immediately isolated. Subsequent test results confirmed Wuhan coronavirus infection at about 9.30pm on 25 January.

He had stayed at Village Hotel Sentosa prior to hospital admission.

MOH shared that it has initiated epidemiological investigations and contact tracing to identify individuals who had close contact with him.

Given the high volume of international travel to Singapore, MOH had earlier said that it expects to see more suspect cases and imported cases. It urged the public to remain calm and vigilant, and to adopt good personal hygiene practices.
