About 80 firefighters and three emergency vehicles were deployed this morning (11 December) to battle a raging fire at a building in Tuas Crescent. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a statement that it was alerted to a fire at 48 Tuas Crescent around 6 am on Wednesday.
Upon arriving at the scene, SCDF saw the fire raging at the premises, which deals in industrial waste management including recycled oil and solvents. The fire was raging and spreading along drains.

Eight water jets are being used to fight the blaze along with two unmanned firefighting machine called. Also, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been deployed to conduct areal monitoring of the situation.
SCDF said in a statement that the fire has been confined to within the premises and no injuries have been reported.
In a video on SCDF’s Facebook page, AC Daniel Seet, Director Operations at SCDF said the premises was about the size of a football field. The fire was brought under control at about 10 am, said AC Seet. He explained that firefighters have entered the premises to quell remaining fires inside the building.

Images from the scene show thick plumes of black smoke enveloping the area as the fire raged on. SCDF has advised members of the public to stay away from the area as firefighters quell the blaze.

王鼎昆建议送餐员改当邮差

自上周政府突然宣布禁止电动滑板车在行人道行驶禁令,依靠电动滑板车的送餐员生计大受影响,在各个国会议员的会见人民活动上,亦有不少送餐员现身向议员求助。 约30名使用电动滑板车的送餐员,集聚在兀兰5大道,和马西岭-油池集选区行动党议员王鼎昆会面。 据《Mothership》报导指出,送餐员与王鼎昆会面,主要是向他反映有关禁令所带来的问题,以及听取对方对此是否有什么解决方法。 Mothership在其脸书页面上传了一段两方的交流视频,间中,王鼎昆曾建议送餐员以脚车来取代个人代步工具。 建议以脚车替代电动滑板车 一名送餐员表示,若改用脚车,他们一个小时内最多只能完成三分订单,只赚取15元。“一个订单值五元,三个15元,吃呢,现在需要多少钱了?” (视频来源:Mothership) 每日奔波拼订单只为生计 另一名送餐员也指出,他们每天似疯了般跑来跑去,只为了谋生计。“无论大雨日晒,我们仍然需要骑车为顾客送食物。” 对此,王鼎昆也带来了新加坡职工总会和就业与职能培训中心(e2i)的代表,尝试建议这些送餐员其他的工作选项。 他甚至一度询问他们,是否愿意担任新加坡邮政的邮差。“如果你不介意,我这就业与职能培训中心和职总的同事都能够帮忙,成为邮差怎么样?” 然而,一名骑士回应并强调他偏好担任送餐员。“可以……如果我们成为(邮差),那么其他人就不用吃啦,不用点餐啦。”…
