SCDF battles blaze at Tuas Crescent, 32 firefighters deployed
About 80 firefighters and three emergency vehicles were deployed this morning (11 December) to battle a raging fire at a building in Tuas Crescent. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a statement that it was alerted to a fire at 48 Tuas Crescent around 6 am on Wednesday.
Upon arriving at the scene, SCDF saw the fire raging at the premises, which deals in industrial waste management including recycled oil and solvents. The fire was raging and spreading along drains.
SCDF said in a statement that the fire has been confined to within the premises and no injuries have been reported.
In a video on SCDF’s Facebook page, AC Daniel Seet, Director Operations at SCDF said the premises was about the size of a football field. The fire was brought under control at about 10 am, said AC Seet. He explained that firefighters have entered the premises to quell remaining fires inside the building.
Images from the scene show thick plumes of black smoke enveloping the area as the fire raged on. SCDF has advised members of the public to stay away from the area as firefighters quell the blaze.
SCDF also shared a video of the situation on the ground at about 9 am:
