探讨异议课程被批鼓励示威 亚菲言:最好的方式是让学生提出疑问

近日,耶鲁—国大学院临时取消一门名为《新加坡的异议与抵抗》的课程。课程由新加坡知名剧作家亚菲言执导,与参与学生探讨本土的公民抗命模式。原计划于本月本月27日至10月5日进行,结果在开课前两周就却被喊停。

耶鲁—国大学院校长陈大荣教授解释,课程“未批判性地接触多元观点,这对于探讨围绕在异议周边的政治、社会和伦理议题,去做作妥当的学术检视是需要的”。

虽然课程被喊停了,不过Singapore Matters 脸书专页,制作成视频抨击有关课程,指该课程有意鼓励学生进行示威运动,尤其宣传暴力示威。

视频中声称,该课程意图向学生传达公民抗命行动,例如试图透过倡导政治议题而不谨守规范、课堂设计并不区分和平、合法抵抗以及如今日香港的暴力抵抗其之间的区别。

Singapore Matters 脸书专页,向来以关注新加坡大小事为宗旨,其舆论则倾向支持建制派并打压反对党和维权人士的言论。

亚菲言:引导学生反思本土抗争运动

然而,亚菲言于脸书上澄清,当初该课程设计,旨在引导学生从不同角度思考新加坡的抗议行动,例如抗议的意义、以及为何媒体需要将抗议组织或人士设定为“麻烦者”、他们又是为谁制造了麻烦,并非如视频中说的教导学生如何组织公共示威,并指控将课程与香港的政治动荡画上等号是不符合他当初的意愿。

他解释,“其中最好的了解方式就是和抗议者面对面,让学生能亲自向他们提出疑问。”

视频中还声称,该课程将教导学生如何制作标语、制定挑战法律的激进策略以及为了倡导部分观点而制造骚乱。

然而,对比亚菲言的澄清,我们却发现与Singapore Matters所提出的观点有出入。

虽然课程设计中,仍有一部分是“联署工作坊”,但其他活动却不如Singapore Matter所说的充满敌对性,例如其中一项活动是需要在演说者之角(Speaker’s Corner),绘制出该区域的地形与监控设施、或者与不同维权人士讨论公民抗议(civil disobedience)与妥协战术(accommodationist tactics)的区别。

这与“制定激进策略”有着迥然不同的效果,不是吗?

此外,视频还提及课堂“有美化不合法或涉及暴力的示威运动”之意,表示课堂并无区分和平、合法抵抗以及暴力抵抗的定义。

此番言论毫无根据,我们可见亚菲言所概述的活动包括由耶鲁-国大学院学生组织办理的相关行动主义(activism)的研讨会、办理一项有关艺术家在公共领域的走向讲座、讲述新加坡历史上的审查工作以及两份纪录片影像包含香港维权人士黄之峰的纪录片,以及1987年光谱运动。

当然课程设计一定会牵涉有关行动主义(activism)与其纪录片,或是带有行动主义的纪录片的相关讨论,但这些牵涉我国少有提及的历史讨论并不足以构成“美化不合法示威”。

自由新闻工作者韩俐颖于周日在脸书上针对视频直言,“该文所有对课程安排的声称并非正确“,同时他质疑释出相关视频的目的为何。

她指出,目前已有类似的脸书专页如Fabrications about the PAP、FActually Singapore,散播她于2016年指出“希望新加坡跟随香港脚步”的视频并声称韩俐颖希望新加坡成为第二个香港,一个警民对立、香港人打香港人的国家,试图曲解她原有之意。

然而,韩俐颖却出面打脸,今日于脸书发文并分享全程的解说,同时也曾在2017年发文强调其意。

她曾于2017年在部落格平台《Medium》解释原意,“如今我们的目标并不是启动上千名公众上街游行,而是要深入人民、建立关系、网络、信任和声援。尽管这是纸上谈兵的说法,但却是必要的,亦是每个人民的责任。我们拥有许多方式来实现民主,所以也必须鼓励其他人民一同开始。”

随后她亦在脸书上质疑视频的目的,“《新加坡的异议与抵抗》课程已经确定取消,并不需要透过任何的请愿或抗议阻止课程进行,所以到底为何还要分享这充满混肴信息?

对此,韩俐颖提出相当重要的重点。

还有值得一提的疑问是,针对视频中对课程设计与个人作出错误的言论是否也可视为是一种骚扰?如果是,政府又会采取何种行动?应该说他们是否会采取行动?

另外,不同脸书专页不停散播这则充满谬误的信息,是否应被视为是抹黑维权人士,在社会中制造恐慌,甚至有可能试图引发如同香港示威运动的威力,在我国社会中逐渐发酵。
