Members of the Progress Singapore Party (PSP), one of the newest opposition parties in the Singapore political landscape, paid a visit to social media giant Facebook’s Singapore office on Tue (3 Sep) in a bid to gain greater insight into the best means of communicating with the public.
Lawyer Khush Chopra yesterday said that the visit “deepen our understanding of the nuances and best practices we should be aware of in engaging the communities that we serve”.
Chopra joined PSP chief Tan Cheng Bock, alongside the party central executive committee members such as Michelle Lee Juen and Anthony Lee, on the visit.
Former People’s Action Party (PAP) member Brad Bowyer posted a brief video of the visit on his Facebook page yesterday evening, in which Dr Tan can be seen at the forefront of the entourage.
“Great to find out how we can best have productive conversations online,” he wrote.
Bowyer was initially selected as Lim Tean’s Shadow Minister for National Development at PV, but abruptly left the party at the end of Mar, just days after his role in PV was announced.
“It is time Singapore stopped regressing and started PROGRESSING again. I am proud to be part of this movement,” Bowyer wrote on 15 July in a Facebook announcement regarding joining PSP.
PSP was set up by Dr Tan, a former presidential candidate and former People’s Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament (MP), alongside several other ex-PAP cadres. The new opposition party received formal approval from the Registry of Societies on 28 Mar.
During PSP’s official launch at the Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel earlier this month, Dr Tan shared his thoughts on the current state of affairs in Singapore and what his party aspires to address in the future, such as rising cost of living, healthcare delivery system, fertility rate, and employment.
Dr Tan also called upon Singaporeans – young and old – to come forward and join him “in making a difference to Singapore”.
