Starting from tomorrow (28 August), eligible Japan and South Korea passport holders will be able to pass through immigration faster when they arrive in Singapore, said the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in a statement released today (Tuesday).
This is possible as ICA will extend its Frequent Traveller Programme (FTP) to these passport holders where they will be allowed to use the automated immigration clearance, also known as the enhanced-Immigration Automated Clearance System or eIACS, at Singapore’s checkpoints.
However, to be eligible for the programme, the Japanese and South Korean passport holders have to be aged six and above, and holds a passport with more than six months’ validity. They must also have visited Singapore at least twice in the past two years, ICA explained.
Besides these two countries, other nations that are part of this programme include Australia, Britain, China/Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand and the United States. On top of that, APEC Business Travel Card holders are also eligible for FTP.
Enrolment for the FTP is voluntary and free.
For those who are keen to apply for FTP, they can do so at the enrolment centres located at Terminal 3 Changi Airport, the Visitor Services Centre at the ICA Building, as well as at Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.
More information about this can be found at ICA’s website at www.ica.gov.sg.
