‘Beethoven im Garten’ is set to return to the Singapore Botanic Gardens on 5th October after its resounding inaugural success in September 2018 that attracted over 6,000 audiences.
Once again, Maestro Kahchun Wong will be the leading principal musicians of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, this time an expanded group of sixteen, and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven’s 6th Symphony, also known as the Pastoral Symphony.
Since Beethoven im Garten 2018, Wong has debuted with the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and he has also led major orchestras in Europe and Asia including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Berlin Konzerthaus Orchester, Tokyo Philharmonic, China Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony, and the Singapore Symphony.
An initiative of the German Embassy in partnership with the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and the Nuremberg Symphony, Beethoven im Garten is a gift of music from the people of Germany to Singapore to celebrate German-Singaporean connections and friendship.
“Music has the power to unite and uplift spirits of communities. There’s no better person than Kahchun whose achievements entwine both Singapore and Germany to bring us together through the joy of music. His visit is also happening in the run-up to next year’s Beethoven im Garten celebrating Beethoven’s 250th birthday with a very special staging of his 9th Symphony with Nuremberg Symphony,” said German Ambassador Sante.
“I am forever indebted to my two homes of Singapore and Germany that have fed my dreams and propelled me forward. I feel enormously privileged to be able to give back to Singaporeans what I have learnt and to keep them close with me in my continuing musical journey,” added Mr Kahchun Wong.

Audiences are welcomed to bring their picnic baskets and mats to experience music on a high note while enjoying the lush surroundings of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Admission is FREE! Concert-goers are advised to take public transport.
