192 people were arrested in 11-days islandwide operations conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
In a Facebook post on Saturday (3 August), the bureau shared how its officers arrested 4 suspected drug offenders, including a 30-year-old Singaporean male, in one of the cases on Thursday (1 August) morning in the vicinities of Orchard Towers and the International Building.
It noted that one of them, a 21-year-old Malaysian male, was arrested at the junction of Shenton Way and Maxwell Road. Cash amounting to S$13,390 was seized from both suspects.

The bureau also said that its officers spotted a 21-year-old earlier in the day, making a hasty exit from a carpark in the vicinity of Orchard Towers. Prior to this, he disposed of a plastic bag in the said carpark.
The plastic bag which was recovered by officers at the scene contained about 336g of ‘Ice’ worth more than S$33,000. 336g of ‘Ice’ can feed the addiction of about 192 abusers in one week, said the bureau.

CNB said that the 11-day CNB islandwide ops from the morning of 22 July to the morning of 2 August saw the seizure of about 499g of ‘Ice’, 99g of heroin, 113g of cannabis, 102g of new psychoactive substances and an assortment of other controlled drugs estimated to be worth more than S$65,000.
It noted that the islandwide ops was supported by the Singapore Police Force and some of the areas covered included Bedok, Bukit Merah, Choa Chu Kang, Hougang, Punggol, Sembawang, Tampines, Telok Blangah and Yishun.
Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested persons are ongoing.
