On Wednesday (1 May), a netizen that goes by the name Jessica Vincent took to her Facebook account to share a robbery incident that happened to a blind busker at Yishun MRT underground towards the Northpoint at around 7.20pm. It appears that that the blind lady was robbed off by another woman at the MRT station.

In her post, Ms Vincent wrote, “The blind lady was robbed yesterday, 30 Apr 2019 at about 7.20pm at Yishun mrt underground towards the Northpoint. Some lady snatched her bag of her whole day’s collection and ran off!”

Ms Vincent told TOC that she did not actually see the alleged thief nor the robbery. At that time, she was actually with her family and was only aware of the incident after hearing the blind busker crying for help and went to find out what had happened.

It was only then that she found out that the blind woman was robbed by another woman clad in a red T-shirt (refer to the picture below). At first, Ms Vincent told us that she saw a Chinese woman in her 50s running, which she thought was the robber. After managing to stop that lady, Ms Vincent found out that she was not actually the thief, and she was running after the real robber instead.

The middle-aged Chinese woman added that after failing to get hold of the alleged thief, she then took a picture of her, which Ms Vincent had uploaded along with her Facebook post.

“According to this lady (the chaser), the thief fled after briefly arguing with this lady claiming that she did not steal. The chaser managed to take this pic of the “alleged thief” and she is the key witness who saw, chased and confronted and took this picture,” explained Ms Vincent.

The netizen also said that she was shocked to see that no one in the MRT station stopped to give the thief a chase or attended to the blind woman after the incident.

“No one even walked to the blind lady who was shocked to assure her. Guess it all happened too fast for people to react. It was so crowded and I am shocked how daring she was to rob in a crowded place,” she expressed.

Following the robbery, Ms Vincent pointed out that she had made a police report and the police has responded and said that they will look into this case and “try their best” to catch the culprit.
