The Singapore Lyric Opera will be presenting their Children’s Choir Concert this year, with the theme “How Far I’ll Go”. It will be staged at the Victoria Concert Hall on 25 May 2019, 7:30pm.

Delightful and charming, the Children will bring the audience along with them on their journey of learning and self-discovery through performances of various classics. The concert begins with Everybody Rejoice from the movie The Wiz and ends on a high note with Grammy award-winning song from the perennial favourite Disney animation Moana – How Far I’ll Go.

The performers from the SLO Children are currently receiving conductor’s vocal and performance training under the Youth Training Programme (YTP) conducted by SLO weekly. The training includes but are not limited to vocal techniques, musicianship, ear training, aural skills, languages, dance movements, drama, theatre, and more.

SLO Children’s Training Programme was conceived and implemented since 2006 as part of SLO’s vision and mission. It aims to continually provide training to children and youths who are keen in singing and performing, and to expose them to the beauty of Western Opera. It has recently undergone a revamp and had expanded the age group from 6-18 years old.

“We have decided to expand the age group of the Youth Training Programme to include children as young as 6 years old. This is because we recognise that there are children who know they love singing and performance at a very young age. Hence, we want to provide the platform to help develop their interests while they still have a passion for the music,” explained Mr Anthony Tan, General Manager of Singapore Lyric Opera.

“How Far I’ll Go” Children’s Choir will be conducted by Chorus Mistress Rose Loh with Aloysius Foong accompanying on the piano. It will also feature guest singers from St Margaret’s Secondary School and Raffles Girls Primary School.
